BOISE, Idaho - The Fresno State softball team dropped a tight contest to Boise State on Saturday in the second game of their three-game series at Dona Larsen Park. Another sixth inning rally by the Broncos proved to be the difference maker, as Boise State took game two by a final of 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos claimed the opening run of the ballgame in the third. A wild pitch allowed the runner from third for Boise State to break for the plate and give them a 1-0 lead.
Fresno State tied things up in the fourth, taking advantage of some aggressive base-running by Natalie Elias. Elias went first to third on a sacrifice bunt by Alyssa Rebolledo before making her way to home plate after Larissa Flores was caught stealing.
For the second straight game, the Broncos took the lead in the sixth inning. An RBI single through the left side gave Boise State a 2-1 lead. The Broncos added their third run of the game off a wild pitch with one out, as Boise State carried a 3-1 lead into the seventh.
Fresno State cut the lead in half in the seventh when Alyssa Ramirez lined a double into right center that scored Olivia Hill from second. The Bulldogs were unable to bring home the tying run to the plate, as Boise State secured their second straight win over the Bulldogs.
