Bulldogs fall in close battle with Wolf Pack

RENO, Nev. - The Fresno State women's tennis team dropped a close match to Nevada on Friday morning at McArthur Tennis Center, 4-3.Â
How it happenedÂ
Fresno State had to work from behind after dropping the doubles point. Louna Cormier and Andjela Lopicic sat the closest at a chance to take a match win with four games. Eliza Dunbar and Sofia Pizzoni sat even with the Wolf Pack pair down three games to four but had to leave their match unfinished.Â
Fresno State went to work in singles play earning three points. The match was played to completion with all singles matches being played out. Nevada got rolling taking the first three matches on courts 3, 6, 4. Fresno State claimed the remaining three on courts 5, 2 and 1.Â
Cormier earned the first point with a straight set win (6-4, 7-6). The last two points came in third set battles. Pizzoni came next after taking set one (6-4) and three (6-3), the senior dropped the middle set two games to six. In her first win at the top singles flight, Paulina Montiel worked taking sets two and three. Montiel earned one game in the first set, but bounced back on a 6-4 second set. All in for the third set Montiel earned the tiebreaker win 7-6 (7-3).Â
