'Dogs fall to San Jose State on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State fell to San Jose State, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Complex.
The Spartans secured the early momentum by claiming the doubles point, winning on courts one and three. The duo of Emma Fantousis and Soledad Fayos Capilla earned a 6-2 win on court one, while Katarina Brajovic and Cristina Mateos Losada followed with a 6-1 victory on court three.
In singles play, Fresno State picked up its lone point on court four as Eliza Dunbar delivered a strong performance, defeating Tara Mihaljevic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
San Jose State, however, controlled the remainder of singles action. Camila Celis earned a straight-sets win on court five (6-4, 6-0), while Emma Fantousis added another point with a 7-6, 6-0 victory on court two. Cristina Mateos Losada clinched the match for the Spartans on court six, rallying for a three-set win (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Two matches went unfinished after the Spartans secured the team victory, including tightly contested battles on courts one and three.
