Bulldogs drop home match to Aggies

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team fell to Utah State on Thursday, as the Aggies picked up a 4-2 win over the Bulldogs at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Complex.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Utah State captured the doubles point after collecting wins on court two and court three. The Bulldogs took the first doubles match on court one, as Klara Vukicevic and Paulina Montiel came back from a 2-1 deficit to win the match, 6-3. Utah State responded with a 6-3 win of their own on court two before clinching the doubles point on court three, 6-3.Â
Utah State secured the first singles point on court 5 after Louna Cormier was defeated in straight sets ( 4-6, 2-6). Eliza Dunbar got Fresno State on the board with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court three. The Aggies claimed their third point of the afternoon on court 6 as Gianna Mastro fell in straight sets to Magdalena Nunez Pureco (4-6, 2-6).
With Fresno State down 3-1, Andjela Lopicic took the opening set on court four, 6-3, before orchestrating a 7-6 comeback win in the second set to bring the 'Dogs within a point of the Aggies. The Aggies clinched the match on court one after Paulina Montiel fell in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 2-6,), as Utah State sealed a 4-2 road win over the Bulldogs.Â
One singles match was left unfinished, as Sofia Pizzoni was in the midst of a third set on court two before the fourth point was clinched by the Aggies.Â
