FRESNO, Calif. — The Fresno State Bulldogs dropped a 4-0 decision to Boise State Broncos on Saturday morning in Mountain West play, despite picking up a strong doubles win to open the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out strong in doubles play, earning a win on court one as the duo of Klara Vukicevic and Paulina Montiel cruised to a 6-1 victory. However, Boise State responded by taking the other two doubles courts to secure the doubles point.
In singles action, the Broncos controlled the match early, winning three straight completed courts to clinch the overall victory. Sofia Pizzoni fell in straight sets at No. 2 singles, while Eliza Dunbar (No. 3) and Andjela Lopicic (No. 4) were also defeated in straight sets as Boise State built its lead.
Three other singles matches went unfinished. Montiel battled at the top spot, taking the first set 7-5 before the match was halted. Vukicevic and Louna Cormier each pushed their matches into decisive third sets before play was stopped once the team result was decided.
