'Dogs earn AVCA academic honors for seventh straight season

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Fresno State volleyball team has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced Thursday.
The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs that strive for excellence in the classroom by earning a cumulative team grade-point average of at least 3.30 during the 2025–26 school year.
The Bulldogs have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for seven consecutive years and 15 of the past 17 seasons.
Volleyball programs from across the country continue to prove their dominance off the court, as 1,432 collegiate and high school teams maintained a yearlong GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale) to earn the 2025–26 AVCA Team Academic Award.
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
Fresno State is one of five Pac-12 programs to receive the award for 2025–26, along with Boise State, Colorado State, Gonzaga, and Texas State.
