AAS MISSION STATEMENT |
New Student Admission and Orientation
Provide pertinent information to recruits and other potential athletes. New students are assisted through admissions, orientation, evaluation and program planning on both academic and athletics eligibility requirements
Academic Assistance
- Provide academic advising for declared and undeclared majors
- Monitor class selection, course load, attendance and progress
- Provide study hall, tutorial assistance and computer access
- Offer individual counseling and referral services for students with learning disabilities, study skill deficits, career uncertainties and personal concerns
Life Skills Development
- The CHAMPS Program is designed to help students learn life management principles, develop life long learning and leadership skills, and continue a pattern of personal and interpersonal growth. Throughout their attendance at Fresno State, students are provided services which help them identify and achieve their educational, career, personal and athletic goals.
- University 1 is a three-unit class offered to freshmen student athletes to help them learn academic success strategies. Topics include time management, goal setting, critical thinking, reading, memory, test taking, library orientation and career planning. Additional topics include sexual harassment, Title IX, nutrition, sports and drugs, and developing personal responsibility.
- The Academic Counseling and Enrichment (ACE) Program provides specialized services to student athletes from all sports who do not qualify for athletic participation during their first year.
