JJ Mascolo enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach at Fresno State and works with the outfielders and short game.
Mascolo helped the 'Dogs capture their first Mountain West championship in his first season with the Bulldogs in 2016.
In 2014 and 2015, Mascolo served as an assistant coach at Western Oregon University as the infield coach helping the Wolves capture two Great Northwest Athletic Conference titles and ranked in the top 20 in fielding percentage and double plays turned. Prior to his time at WOU, Mascolo coached three years at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Ore., as infield coach and recruiting coordinator making two NWAC tournament appearances.
In the summer of 2013, Mascolo led Post 58 Salem, Ore., based AAA American Legion team to a State Championship.
As a player, Mascolo spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons as a member of two Western Oregon Baseball regional teams. He helped lead the Wolves to two GNAC conference titles and in 2009, as a shortstop, was a member of the ABCA/Rawlings all-region team and first team all-GNAC committing only four errors on the season and batting (.362) from the plate.
Prior to his time at WOU, Mascolo played two seasons at San Mateo JC in San Mateo, Calif. During his time at San Mateo, the Bulldogs captured two Coast Conference Championships and in 2007, Mascolo received the Bulldog Award.
Mascolo is a native of Eugene, Ore., and received his bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon in 2010 in Exercise Science. Mascolo, currently resides in Clovis, with his wife Jessica.
