Prior to his time at NWU, Steele was an assistant men’s and women’s coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for five seasons. While at UWO, he helped coach the men’s soccer team to two trips to the NCAA III Tournament and guided the women to the NCAA Tournament in 2006.

In addition to the 15 years of acquired coaching experience, Steele also played collegiately at Wisconsin-Oshkosh for three seasons, helping the Prairie Wolves to a 40-15-2 record and a trip to the third round of the NCAA III Tournament.
