Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State's five-match win streak came to a halt against third-ranked Hawai'i Saturday evening in the North Gym. The Rainbow Wahine extended their series lead to 23-0 against Fresno State with a 15-3, 15-5, 15-10 victory.
Hosting UTEP in a Western Athletic Conference matinee match up on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 2:00 pm, Fresno State was led offensively by Anamie Buckelew (10 kills) while Malia Malu tied for match-high honors in digs (12).
Hawai'i hit .282 (43-14-103) with 52 digs and nine total blocks. Heather Bown led the way with a match-high 13 kills while adding seven block assists. Fresno State hit .077 (28-20-104) with 43 digs and eight total blocks. Tina Milburn posted a career-high three block assists while Shauna McQuaid had four block assists and added eight kills while hitting .375 (8-2-16).
Tomorrow afternoon, Diann Aufdermaur and Buckelew will look to etch their names in the school recordbooks. With 3,991 career assists, Aufdermaur is nine shy of reaching the 4,000 career assist plateau. She would be only the second Bulldog to ever post at least 4,000 career assists in the program's history. With 981 career kills, Buckelew needs 19 kills to become the the eighth Bulldog to collect 1,000 career kills.
