FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Department of Athletics announced today that ticket sales for the Fresno State-Rice football game on Saturday are approaching 37,000.
The Athletics Ticket Office averages 3,000 ticket sales the day of a game, meaning the game is nearing a sellout. It would be the first sellout since Fresno State played BYU Oct. 8, 1994. That game was also the last time a game attracted a crowd in excess of 40,000. The closest Fresno State has come to that number since was Nov. 24, 1998, when 39,881 watched the Bulldogs defeat UTEP 32-6.
This year's largest crowd was 37,112 for the Oct. 2 game against TCU.
Those interested in obtaining tickets should call the Fresno State Department of Athletics Ticket Office at (559) 278-2509.
