Women's Basketball Knocks Off Loyola Marymount 68-65

FRESNO, Calif. - Another double-double by Tiffany Lewis and a career-high 17 points from Lindsay Logan paced Fresno State past Loyola Marymount 68-65 at the North Gym. With the win, the Bulldogs improve their record to 4-4 while LMU drops to 2-4.
The ?Dogs were down by seven with 4:48 to go, but a 9-0 run in the final four minutes clinched the victory. With the Lions holding a 63-60 advantage, Laura Garcia hit a jumper just below the top of the key. On Fresno State?s next possession, Lindsay Logan converted a layup and was fouled after taking a back door pass from Tiffany Lewis. Logan?s free throw attempt failed, but Lewis grabbed the rebound and put it back in after being fouled. Lewis nailed the free throw and hit another with 37 seconds remaining to seal the win.
Fresno State was led by Logan?s 17 points and eight assists. Lewis chipped in 14 points and four assists to go along with 16 rebounds that match her season high. Lewis also collected her fourth consecutive double-double, a first for any women?s basketball player at Fresno State. The ?Dogs shot a season best 54.2% from the field and out-rebounded the Lions 38-33.
Loyola Marymount was led by Bryn Britton?s 23 points, five coming on three-pointers. Rosa Bernasconi added 18 points on 7 of 15 shooting.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Mon., Dec. 20, when the Bradley Braves invade the North Gym at 7 p.m.
