Bulldogs Advance to Championship Game

Fresno State picked up its second win of the Western Athletic Conference tournament, defeated San Diego State 3-2 Friday night. The second-ranked Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning before the Aztecs tied it up in the fifth. Junior Amanda Scott got on base off a fielding error and was tripled home by Angela Cervantez.
Freshman Lovieanne Jung hit an RBI single to right to score pinch runner Alex Ronconcio for the insurance run.
Scott picked up the victory after starter Kristen Hunter piched four and 1/3 innings, giving up two hits and one run.
Saturday's first game features a re-match of Hawaii and Utah at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to meet the Bulldogs in the championship game. The championship will start 30 minutes after the completion of the 1 p.m. game.
In a special pre-game ceremony, WAC Deputy Commissioner Margie McDonald, who is retiring this year, will be honored and will throw out the first pitch of the championship game. McDonald has devoted over 25 years as an advocate of girls and womens participation in sport.
