Bulldogs Ride Into Tournament of Champions
Six members of the Fresno State equestrian team will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take part in the Tournament of Champions show on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Middle Tennessee State. This will be the first time the Bulldogs have appeared at the Tournament of Champions, earning an invitation after a strong sixth place finish at the NCAA Invitational last November. Senior Dina Bernardi (Salinas, Calif.), sophomore Erin Tooms (Fresno, Calif.), freshman Malia Oglesby (Clovis, Calif.), senior Tori Majors (Fresno, Calif.), senior Aileen Hayashi (Fresno Calif.) and sophomore Andrea Svenningsen (San Lorenzo, Calif.) will represent the Bulldogs in Tennessee.
Bulldogs Receive Two More Invitations
Besides the Tournament of Champions in Tennessee, Fresno State also accepted invitations to take part in shows at Oregon State University and New Mexico State. The Bulldogs will travel to Oregon State University on Saturday, Feb. 6, for the all day English and Western show. On Sunday, March 14, Fresno State will take part in its second Tournament of Champions at New Mexico State.
Fresno State Show Pushed Back One Week
The Fresno State Intercollegiate Horse Show will now take place on Sunday, Feb. 21, instead of the originally scheduled date of Sunday, Feb. 14. The all day double Western event will be held at the Fresno State Student Horse Center.
Bulldogs Add 10 Riders for Spring Season
The Fresno State equestrian team added 10 riders to the roster for the Spring season. Head coach Megan McGee will now begin the Spring with 85 riders.
Dogs Place Sixth in Second Annual NCAA Show
The Fresno State equestrian team placed sixth as a team at the second annual Division I National Invitation Equestrian Classic in Columbia, S.C. last Saturday. The Bulldogs compiled 18 points to trail the University of South Carolina which finished in first place with 33 points. Miami (Ohio) captured reserve honors with 24 points. In all, 11 of the top equestrian teams in the nation turned-out for the event. Individually, Bernardi rode away form the show as the overall individual champion. Bernardi also placed first in Open Equitation Flat and fifth in Open Equitation over Fences.
