Four Fresno State Equestrian Riders Advance to Zone 8 Finals

Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State sophomore Elissa Lane (Bakersfield, Calif.) captured regional championships in Open Reining and Open Stock Seat today at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Region I Western Finals held at the Fresno State Student Horse Show.
Lane was one of four Bulldog riders who qualified for the IHSA Zone 8 Western Finals on Saturday, April 3, at UC Davis. In Advanced Stock Seat, sophomore Anjanette Sheets (Northfolk, Calif.) placed second and junior Jennifer Grant (Fresno) finished third. Sophomore Elissa Cotter (Elk Grove, Calif.) placed second in Intermediate Stock Seat.
Cotter is the only Fresno State rider to qualify for the Zone 8 Finals in both English and western competitions. In yesterdays English show, Cotter was the Region I champion in Open Flat.
The top three riders in each class move on to the Zone 8 Finals where they will compete against riders from Region II, which consists of schools from Southern California.
