"Our vision for Fresno State womens basketball in one in which we provide you, the student-athlete, with the opportunities to be the very best you can be, both athletically and academically. We have a program entitled Seven Steps to the Top that we view as vital to success in our program."
Responsibility
We feel that the student-athlete is accountable for her actions - at all times. The decisions you make both on and off the floor reflect our team, our athletic department, and our university.
|
By striving to meet these Seven Steps to Success, we believe that we can have a
successful team, both on and off the court. The lessons that we teach can be carried over to life after basketball, which is the most
important "game" you will ever play in. |
Confidence
Believe in yourself. When receiving constructive criticism, learn how to use it for your benefit, as it is intended. However, temper your confidence level - overconfidence can be as destructive to the team as underconfidence.
Desire
In order to be a successful basketball player and student-athlete, you must want to succeed at all times. Give the best you can and positive results will inevitably follow.
Teamwork
To be a great team, we must be a closely knit unit that covers for one another and helps each other out. We can accomplish a great deal if you disregard who gets the credit. The victory belongs to the group - not an individual.
Respect
Respecting your teammates, coaches, and the opposition is invaluable. Keep in mind, however, that respect is not always given immediately; it must be earned.
Honesty
In order for us as a coaching staff to have a good working relationship with you as a player, we must trust one another. If that trust breaks down, there is an inevitable break down in all other areas of the Seven Steps to Success.
Commitment
To accomplish a common goal, everyone must be dedicated to achieving that same goal. We will set goals that are measurable and achievable.
By striving to meet these Seven Steps to Success, we believe that we can have a successful team, both on and off the court. The lessons that we teach can be carried over to life after basketball, which is the most important "game" you will ever play in.
We hope that the following pages provide you with answers to some of the questions you may have about Fresno State womens basketball.
Sincerely,
Britt King
