Bulldog Diving Opens Season at Home
The diving team will compete at the Bulldog Diving Invitational at the Central Unified Aquatics Complex on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Bulldogs have two divers on the team this year, as opposed to one last year. Freshman Nicole Recupito (Kokomo, Ind.) and sophomore Kristin Hermanson (Roseville, Calif.) are both first year divers for the `Dogs this year. Recupito graduated from Northwestern High School in Kokomo, Ind., and qualified for the Indiana state championships as well as competing in the USA Junior Olympic Diving Championships. Hermanson has left the Fresno State cheerleader squad for the diving team and holds some impressive scores at local championships. Now in her second year, diving coach Chunhua Zhao guided Fresno State's lone diver last year from a local competition level to the NCAA Zone Championship qualification standards. To get to Central from Fresno State go West on Shaw and cross over Freeway 99 until you reach Polk. Making a left at Polk, go south to Dakota and make another left. On Dakota proceed to Cornelia and turn left again. The venue is located on the East campus of Central High School and the competition starts at 9 a.m.
