New Mexico State Sneaks Past Southeast Missouri State 67-58

FRESNO, Calif. - A 12-4 run over the final 4:11 propelled New Mexico State to a 67-58 victory over Southeast Missouri State in Game 1 of the Fresno State Classic. NMSU's win places them in the championship game against host Fresno State on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Otahkians will take on Eastern Washington in the consolation game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The game was close for the entire second half, with no lead larger than six points for most of the final 20 minutes. Southeast tied the game at 52-52 with 6 minutes 55 seconds left on two free throws by Chris Rathke. The Aggies snuck ahead by one with 4:11 left then went on a 12-4 run for the rest of the game to win by nine.
Four Aggies scored in double figures, with Ivana Stojkovic leading the way with 13 in addition to her game-high 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for NMSU were Maricela Sanchez (13), Carrie Saidat (10) and Sinnammonn Garrett (10). For the Otahkians, Pam Iversen and Veronica Benson both had 14.
