Hawai'i head coach June Jones
"They were really big. They were a lot bigger than we were. They kind of wore us down. We are a little undersized right now. They just pounded the ball on us. In the second half, we played a little better. There were two or three key plays that really turned the game around, one being the interception in the end zone that really wasn't an interception. Then down there late in the game, when they blocked the field goal. If we get a touchdown, maybe we can make it a game."
"Even with the [bad breaks], we had our chances. We could have had a touchdown when we missed a hot read right before the field goal block. We had our chances to make our plays, and we just didn't make them."
Fresno State head coach Pat Hill
"That was a great crowd tonight. They really responded well. Things didn't start off well for the Bulldogs, but the crowd really responded. And that helped us. I give a lot of credit to our fans. The game was on [TV], so with a full house and the game on TV, that speaks volumes about what people in the Valley think about Bulldog football."
"I think our team showed a lot of character and a lot of resolve. They know they don't have any margin for error. We were down 14-0, we had a little chit-chat about that. We got caught a little bit off guard early. But we responded well and finished very, very strong. The last drive at the end of the half, I thought was a big one. Putting that score in at the end of the half, it's not exactly the way it was drawn up, but we got it in."
"I've got to give a lot of credit to Hawai'i. They are a very physical team. I said all week it would be a physical game. I think the Western Athletic Conference is very, very strong. That's a 1-7 football team, and they don't play like it. We still have some really tough games ahead of us. I'm really excited about getting a win. Now we just have to work on next week."
