Women's Tennis Breaks Until Stanford

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State vs. Stanford
The women's next action will be at Stanford on Wed., Feb. 9. Stanford is currently ranked No. 1 nationally. Individually ranked players are No. 2 Laura Granville, No. 13 Laura Kalvaria, No. 15 Gabriela Lastra, No. 38 Keiko Tokuda, No. 74 Teryn Ashley, and No. 93 Jennifer Heiser. Three Stanford doubles teams are also ranked nationally in the top 50. Fresno State is 0-9 when facing the Cardinal. Last season the Bulldogs were narrowly defeated 4-5.
Rescheduled Cal Match-Up
Fresno State will host the California Golden Bears on Fri., Feb.11. The game was rained out on Sun., Jan. 23. This will be the women's team's first home match. Fresno State is 0-8 when facing Cal. The Golden Bears are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation.
Bulldogs Lose Spring Opener to No. 6 UCLA
The Fresno State women's tennis team lost their spring opener to UCLA Wed., Jan. 19. The Bruins won the match 7-2. Sophomore Chantel Wiggins was the lone winner for the Bulldogs 6-1, 6-1 at No.6 over Jennifer Donohue.

Four Bulldogs on Dean's List
Kandiss Creighton(Sr., Weldon, Calif.), Liesl Fichtbauer (Jr., Hamburg, Germany), Renee Kops-Jones (Sr., Fresno, Calif.), and Jennifer Messmer (Sr., Camarillo, Calif.) have all been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester. A total of 102 student-athletes earned a 3.5 GPA or higher to share this honor.
Bulldogs Ranked No. 23
The women's tennis team were ranked No. 23 nationally in the latest rankings. Individually, sophomore Kim Niggemeyer is ranked 57th in the nation and junior Liesl Fichtbauer is ranked 90th. The doubles team of Fichtbauer and senior Kandiss Creighton are ranked 27th.
