Women's Tennis Defeats UTEP at Home 7-2

FRESNO, Calif. -
Fresno State defeated UTEP today at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center 7-2. This was their first WAC matchup as the team improves to 4-5. The women will take part in the San Diego Tournament this weekend where they will face Washington State, Santa Clara, and University of San Diego.
Fresno State began the day winning five out of the six singles matches. Their only loss came at No. 3 where Elizabeth Stone defeated Renee Kops-Jones (Sr., Fresno, Calif.) 7-5, 6-1. In doubles play Fresno State won two but lost at No. 1 where Ana Brnas and Jana Perkova def. Kandiss Creighton (Sr., Weldon, Calif.) and Jennifer Messmer (Sr. Camarillo, Calif.) 8-3.
