No. 5 Fresno State Softball Collects Shutout Win Over Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 5 Fresno State picked up its 25th shutout win of the season after posting a 3-0 victory over Pacific in game one of the non-conference doubleheader. Fresno State got three runs on eight hits while the Tigers had four hits and committed two errors.
The Bulldogs scored their first run in the bottom of the second. With two outs and having the bases loaded twice, sophomore third baseman Lindsay Fossatti reached base via a walk. Freshman catcher Pam West came up to bat in the ninth spot and reached base via an overthrow to first base, allowing Fossatti to score the first run of the game.
The `Dogs tacked on two more runs in the third. With one out, sophomore right fielder Vanessa Czarnecki doubled to right field. Sophomore second baseman Lovie Jung followed with a single to right field and advanced to second on the throwing error by UOP's right fielder and Czarnecki went to third.
Senior RHP Amanda Scott responded with a RBI single up the middle to score Czarnecki. Picking up her 23rd win on the season, Scott tossed her 19th shutout victory and recorded her tenth 10-strikeout game on the year after fanning 10 Tigers. At the plate, Scott went 2-3 and got the lone RBI for the Bulldogs.
