HONOLULU, Hawaii - No. 5 Fresno State (42-9, 8-0 WAC) completed its Western Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep over Hawai'i with a 4-0 victory in the night cap. The win also meant the Bulldogs won all four conference games over the Rainbow Wahine to extend their league win streak to eight straight this season and pushed their consecutive WAC win streak to 34 consecutive games since 1998.
In the second game of the day, Fresno State finished the conference finale in style as all four runs came in the top of the seventh with two outs. With the bases loaded, senior first baseman Angela Cervantez belted her fifth home run - an opposite field blast to left center - and her first career grand slam. Sophomore second baseman Lovie Jung (2-3, run) and senior left fielder Amanda Scott (2-4) each had two hits a piece.
In the circle, sophomore southpaw Kristen Hunter scattered five hits and struck out two for her 16th victory and ninth shutout on the season while improving to 4-0 in conference play. Fresno State will be back in action next Wednesday, April 19, with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against #9 Stanford.
The Bulldogs will resume WAC play at home on Saturday, April 22, with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader versus Loyola Marymount.
