FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Matadors of Cal State Northridge 3-0 this evening at Bulldog Stadium.
The Bulldogs struck early as junior midfielder Noah Delgado (Fremont) connected on a pass from senior midfielder Dana McGregor (Arroyo Canyon) and placed it in the top left corner at the four-minute mark. From that point on the `Dogs never looked back as the offense combined for 23 shots on goal. The defensive effort was led by sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Proud (Auburn, Wash.) as he recorded his second shutout with seven saves on 13 shots. Proud shared some net time with freshman goalkeeper Matthew Heisser (Pleasanton) who made two saves, one of which was a header late in the game to solidify the shutout.
The Bulldogs take a 3-0 home record with them as they head south next weekend to the University of San Diego Tournament where they take the field against USD on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 and Saint Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
