SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In the first match of the Bulldogs' two-match tournament at the University of San Diego this Friday, Sept. 15, the men were defeated by host USD with a score of 5-1.
The defensive effort on both ends of the field kept the score even at zero for the entire first half. However, the tables quickly turned as USD posted a 1-0 lead just one minute into the second half with a goal by Tyler Conley. The Toreros added three more goals before Fresno State's freshman forward Tim Metzger (Fountain Valley)put one on the board with a ten-yard goal at the 79-minute mark. Unfortunately the goal wasn't enough to overcome the four point spread.
Fresno State drops to 3-1 after the loss while USD improves to 4-1. The 'Dogs look to finish the San Diego Classic with a win on Sunday, Sept. 17, when they face the Gaels of Saint Mary's at 1 p.m.
