Welcome to ESPN.com's moderated chat room. On Tuesday, Fresno State quarterback David Carr made a special visit to chat about his team's upcoming battle at Colorado State on Saturday (10 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
Fresno State (5-0, 2-0) heads to Colorado State (2-3, 1-1) after having won their first five games of the season, including a 44-24 victory over Oregon State on Sept. 2 in which Carr threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns. Fresno State has risen to No. 8 in the AP poll, the highest ranking in the program's history.
Carr has thrown for 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions on the season and he is on pace to break Billy Volek's school record for completion percentage of .604, set from 1997-99. Carr is currently completing passes at a .638 clip.
The following is a transcript from Carr's October 9 chat:
Moderator: (11:59 AM ET ) David Carr should be joining us momentarily. Thank you.
David Carr: (12:01 PM ET ) I am here and ready to take your questions!!
Richard(Lemoore): Hey, David! What do you think the Bulldogs' chances are of finishing the season undefeated? Do you think about the possibility of winning the Heisman? GO DOGS!!!
David Carr: (12:02 PM ET ) I think about both. Both are stretch goals but we can obtain both of them if we keep playing the way we have.Matt (Chicago): Hey Mr. Carr, continue the great work! Since I wrote to you, I was wondering if you read your fan mail? Thanks!
David Carr: (12:03 PM ET ) Occassionaly. They try and keep some till the end of the season but I try to read all of it eventually.Zchay: Hey Dave,
The only way for the bulldogs to get a major bowl game is to run up the scoreboard on the sorry teams that you play. Do you feel you need to do so or does the teams' performance stand on its own????
David Carr: (12:04 PM ET ) The way we play will dictate where we play in the bowls. If we get up to No. 6 or No. 5 it won't be because we blew teams out but because we won and played our game.
C-SID (Fresno): You have had five great performances this year. Which stands out in your mind as being the best?
David Carr: (12:06 PM ET ) I t hink the one against Oregon State was the most fun. The fans were so excited and it was so much fun to be in the middle of that.Matt Waun, Michigan: David, With the recent struggles of Wisconsin and Oregon State, do you think that will affect how people view your team? I want to say that even though Oregon State and Wisconsin are struggling, it is very tough to win at Camp Randall Stadium and Beaver Stadium and I wish you Bulldogs the best of luck.
David Carr: (12:08 PM ET ) Thanks. I think Oregon St we didn't know how good they would be. Teams will struggle and teams will win. But we just have to look at one game at a time. We have played enough good teams to get some credit.Jim(Houston): You are a fantastic player who I would like to see in a Texans jersey next year. My question is do you feel that the game versus Rice is going to be for the WAC title?
David Carr: (12:10 PM ET ) It could be. Rice is a great team. I'm just glad we have them at home this year. There are a lot of tough games left in the WAC.Eric: With the seventh week coming up I would like to know how the fresno state strength training has aided your performance. I recently discovered that you were a strength and conditioning All American, any comments on the honor.
David Carr: (12:11 PM ET ) That was kind of cool because I like to mix it up with the offensive and defensive lines. I have to compete with them somehow! We have great coaches which will really help us down the road.Matt Waun, Michigan: David, What is your favorite college football stadium and which one would you most want to play at?
David Carr: (12:13 PM ET ) I liked Wisconsin, that was fun. But our stadium is the best atmosphere than any stadium I have ever been in. It seats about 43,000 but it sounds like much more.jared (provo): Hey David, just wanted to say thanks for representing the San Joaquin Valley. You and the Bulldogs are doing a great job. Keep it up.
David Carr: (12:16 PM ET ) Thanks! We are doing our best to bring you guys something to cheer about!frank (new orleans): how is it that you guys were able to turn your team into one of the best in the country in just one year?
David Carr: (12:18 PM ET ) It started in the offseason with our workouts. We knew we had the athletes, we just needed to gel as a team. I invited the guys to come over for barbecues and we just got to know each other better. We have 15 fifth year seniors which helps greatly as well.Steve (Eau Claire): Would you get upset if someone started trash talking you?
David Carr: (12:19 PM ET ) It's kind of fun. It makes the game interesting and puts a flair in things. They say alot to me, especially lately since we've been winning but I have fun with it.
David Carr: (12:22 PM ET ) Thanks for everyone for supporting our team. I'm expecting a great game against Colorado State, they are a strong team. I hope to see all of you at the stadium!
