- Fresno State was extended an invitation to the Silicon Valley Football Classic after the win, which they accepted. It means the Bulldogs will play in a bowl game three consecutive years, the first time in program history that has happened.
- The win shrinks SJSU's lead in the all-time series to 32-31-3. It was also FS's eighth consecutive win over San Jose State, the longest winning streak in the history of the series.
- David Carr threw for 328 yards, passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more. He moved past Trent Dilfer and into first place on the Fresno State single-season passing yardage list. Carr now has 3,867 on the season with 36 touchdowns.
- Bernard Berrian had 109 receiving yards, 88 kickoff return yards, 12 punt return yards and six rushing yards in the game. His effort moved him past LaDainian Tomlinson and into first place on the WAC single-season all-purpose yardage list. Berrian has 2,382 all-purpose yards in 2001.
- David Carr's 61 rushing yards were a career high. His two rushing touchdowns also tied a career high.
- Fresno State had 610 total yards, the most since FS had 685 against SJSU in 1999.
- Carr's 300-yard game was his ninth of the season.
- Carr is now only four touchdowns and 133 yards shy of becoming only the sixth quarterback in NCAA history to throw for 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in a single season. The other are: Tim Rattay (Louisiana Tech), Robbie Bosco (BYU), Ty Detmer (BYU), Andre Ware (Houston) and David Klingler (Houston).
- Paris Gaines' 107-yard day moved him to 963 this year. He is in search of the first 1,000-yard season of his career. He is trying to join wide receivers Rodney Wright (1,253) and Bernard Berrian (1,112) on the 1,000-yard club. Wright and Berrian are the first receiving combo ever to post 1,000-yard seasons in the same year.
- San Jose State's fourth quarter touchdown was the first allowed by FS in the second half since Rice scored in the fourth quarter of the Nov. 3 game.
- The crowd of 42,881 was the fourth consecutive game the Bulldogs have attracted that number. It is tied for the largest crowd in Bulldog Stadium history.
- This marks Fresno State's first 10-win season since 1991.
- Asen Asparuhov scored 10 points in the game to become Fresno State's single-season record holder in scoring. He now has 115 and passed Dale Messer and Aaron Craver to vault into first.
- Fresno State's 282 rushing yards were a season high.
