FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team improved their ranking in the latest WingspanBank.com poll released by the ITA National Ranking Committee Wednesday afternoon.
The women are currently ranked No. 30 in the poll, compared to last week's ranking of No. 34. The Bulldogs (4-1) upset then-No.18 UCLA 5-2 in Los Angeles in their only match of the week. Fresno State will host Loyola on Friday at 1 p.m., and No. 51 Oregon on Sunday at 1 p.m this weekend.
The men dropped from No. 20 in the nation down to No. 23. The Bulldogs encountered some rough matches last week, dropping a 5-2 decision to No. 21 USC on the road and losing a thriller to then-No. 9 Texas 4-3 at home. Fresno State's match against UC Irvine on Feb. 24 was postponed due to rain, with the date and time yet to be determined. The Bulldogs will face three ranked teams in this weekend's road trip: No. 36 Tulsa on Thursday, No. 20 Baylor on Saturday and No. 11 SMU on Sunday.
