#7 Softball Shuts Down #15 Oregon State

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 7 Fresno State (14-3) attacked early and quickly against No. 15 Oregon State (19-9-1) in the Bulldogs' 2-0 victory over the Beavers.
Improving to 4-1 in the Hedrick's Hallowell Chevrolet Classic, Fresno State tallied two runs on nine hits. Lori Hoffman pitched a three-hitter and struck out one for her first collegiate shutout in just her second start.
Fresno State scored both its runs in the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs led the inning off with three consecutive singles by Becky Witt, Tiffany Whipple and Lori Hoffman. Lindsay Fossatti took four straight balls to bring in Witt for the first run. Pam Perez followed with a RBI single into right field to score Whipple.
Witt (3-4, run), Whipple (2-4, run) and Hoffman (2-4) each had a multiple-hit game.
Fresno State closes out tournament play tomorrow afternoon with #1 UCLA (33-0)at 4:00 pm. The Bruins are 5-0 in invitational action.
