HOUSTON - Eric Arnold blasted two home runs to lead No. 1-ranked Rice to an 8-6 win over Fresno State Sunday at Reckling Park and a sweep of the Western Athletic Conference series.
Arnold ripped a three-run home run deep to left-center field in the first, then added a two-run, opposite-field shot to right in the fourth.
A.J. Porfirio also had four singles and scored three runs, and Hunter Brown had three hits in the Owls' 14-hit attack.
Rice (25-6, 14-1) scored all eight of its runs in the first four innings, securing its seventh straight win at Reckling Park.
Jonathan Gonzalez (5-1) pitched the first five innings for the Owls to pick up the win. Nick Moran (2-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Oscar Lopez hit his third home run and Brandon Gemoll had two runs batted in to pace the offense for Fresno State (20-13, 6-6).
Next for the Bulldogs is a game against Cal Poly on Tuesday at Beiden Field at 7 p.m.
