#14 Softball Completes Sweep Over Loyola Marymount

FRESNO, Calif. - #14 Fresno State (33-17, 8-3 WAC) completed a doubleheader sweep over Loyola Marymount (29-19, 8-10 WAC) with a 2-0 victory in the night cap.
Lori Hoffman, who had a no-hit bid going into the seventh, collected her first career one-hitter after walking one and striking out six to improve to 9-9 on the year. Corianne Rogalsky suffered her second loss on the day after walking two to fall to 15-7 on the season.
Fresno State posted a run in the first and fourth inning. With one out in the first, Vanessa Czarnecki tallied an infield single and went to second after Tiffany Whipple grounded out. Lindsay Fossatti drew a walk before Pam Perez roped a two-out RBI single into left field to score Czarnecki.
In the fourth, Hoffman led off with a single into right field. Alicia Dowland followed with a double down the left field line. With runners at second and third and Michelle Wright coming in to pinch run for Hoffman, Leslie Poole (fly out) and Mitzi Ing (ground out) were retired before Becky Witt drove in Wright with a RBI single up the middle.
With the sweep today, Fresno State captured all four meetings from the Lions this season in WAC play (2-0, 4-1, 6-3, 2-0).
The paid attendance of 3,623 was the ninth-largest in school history.
The Bulldogs will conclude their home schedule next weekend when they host San Jose State on Friday, April 27 (6:00 pm) and Portland State on Saturday, April 28 (1:00 pm).
