No. 9 Women's Tennis Rolls Past Pepperdine 5-2

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 9 Fresno State women's tennis won five of six singles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over No. 18 Pepperdine Saturday morning in Malibu, Calif. The Bulldogs are now 13-3 on the season, while the Waves fall to 14-8. Fresno State has now won eleven of their last thirteen matches.
Pepperdine won the doubles point to open the match, garnering wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots. Fresno State's No. 2 team of Liesl Fichtbauer and Courtney Jantz won their match 8-3 to record the only doubles win for the Bulldogs.
Fresno State clinched the match with a strong singles performance, as the Bulldogs pulled out victories at every singles spot except No. 4. All-American junior Kim Niggemeyer, ranked No. 31 nationally, snapped a personal two-match losing streak with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 comeback win over Pepperdine's Cintia Tortorella at the No. 1 spot. Fichtbauer, ranked No. 36 nationally, junior Simone Jardim and Courtney Jantz all won their matches in straight sets, while sophomore Kelly Ramirez defeated her opponent 1-6, 7-6, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.
Fresno State travels to Las Vegas, Nev. on Wednesday to play UNLV, the first of three road matches the Bulldogs will play this week.
