'Dogs Prepare For Cal Poly
The Bulldogs are heading to Cal Poly this week to compete in their first English/Western show. There will be 20 English and 20 Western competing. The English riders will show on Sat., Nov. 9 while Western riders will show on Sun., Nov. 10.
English Riders Completed First Show
The Bulldogs captured the Reserve Champion title with 27 points. Individually, Fresno State flourished as well. Kathryn Frost took fourth in Open Fence, while Dawn McIntosh placed in seventh in the Intermediate Fences and fourth in Open Equitation on Flat, Pam Cullip took fourth in Novice Fences, Sarah Holmes captured second in the Advanced Walk-Trot, Danielle Golden took fifth in Section A of Advanced Walk-Trot, Erin Saunders took fifth in Section B of Advanced Walk-Trot, Amber Jones ran away with first in the Walk-Trot, Michilah Anglin. took second in Beginning Walk-Trot, Amanda Hancock captured first in Intermediate Equitation, while Shannon Morrison took third, Amanda Smith took first in Section A of Novice Equitation, while Julia Scrivani took third, Christina Brown took fifth, Ashley Owens took first in Section B of Novice Equitation, and Emily Brown took second.
'Dogs Invited To Hollywood Christmas Parade
The 2002-03 team has been invited to participate in the 71st Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade on Sun., Dec. 1. The parade is taped for TV and aired nationally on NBC, Dec. 15. Representing Fresno State will be 10 riders and their horses.
Mason Wins The 2002 Reining Champion
Western sophomore rider Taylor Mason (Ione, Calif.) won the first ever National College Reining Championship in May of 2002 held in Oklahoma City, Okla. Mason was the only Bulldog to compete. Mason faced 10 riders from across the United States.
Five Top Ten Individual's at May 2002 Nationals
* Sophomore Katie Wagner (Fullerton, Calif.) placed ninth in the Individual Intermediate Western Horsemanship.
* Senior Katey Feeley (Santa Barbara, Calif.) placed eighth in the Individual Hunter Seat over Fences class.
* Senior Amanda Smith (Fresno, Calif.) placed 10th in the Individual Hunter Seat Walk-Trot-Canter Sunday.
* Junior Amy Reed (Grand Rapids, Mich.) placed third in the Beginner Western Horsemanship.
* Junior Dawn McIntosh (Los Gatos, Calif.) placed sixth in the Open Hunter Seat on the Flat.
