Lindsay Fossatti knows softball. Lindsay Fossatti knows academics. The 2002 preseason All-Western Athletic Conference pick has accumulated numerous achievements during her three years as a Bulldog. The senior has been a three-time first team all-WAC pick, a NCAA Regional all-tournament selection while adding Verizon Academic All-America honors and being a four-time President's List honoree. Excelling on the field and in the classroom has kept Fossatti busy. In the following Q & A, she tells about playing softball and expectations she has for her senior season.
Q. If you had a free day without a game or practice, what would you do?
A. It would be nice to relax. I would hang out with my teammates. We are friends on and off of the field. I love them to death.
Q. With such a rigorous schedule, do you ever get to see your family?
A. I'm very family oriented. I talk to my parents everyday. They are amazingly supportive. My parents try to attend many of my games.
Q. Do you perform any pre-game rituals to give yourself luck?
A. I listen to the song "It's my life" by Bon Jovi to pump myself up.
Q. As a senior, what do you want the new members on the team to know?
A. Being a part of this program is more important than wins. To play under Coach Margie Wright and be a part of milestones like her 1,000th win is an honor.
Q. You are starting your fourth season with the Bulldogs. Do you have anything that you would like to accomplish before graduation?
A. I want to get back to the World Series. I want to put up the best numbers that I have since I've been with the team. I want to help the team and prove everyone wrong about the low preseason ranking that we received.
Q. You're major is Kinesiology-Exercise Science. What do you want to do after graduation? Will you still be involved with softball?
A. I am anxious to start my career. I want to work with children who have physical disabilities. It will be hard to step away from softball, coaching could definitely be an option.
