Equestrian Wins English and Western Shows at Bakersfield College

FRESNO, Calif. - The equestrian team competed at Bakersfield College on Feb. 2-3 The English team won the show with 30 points. Michaela Mathis placed first in the Open Equitation on the Flat class and Emily Brown placed first in the Novice Equitation on the Flat. The Western team also placed first with 21. Kendra McQueen placed first in the Open Stock Seat class.
Fresno State Leads Both Miller's Cup and AQHA
With the Western team's win, the Bulldogs maintain their lead in the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Region 1 standings. The team has 120 points. The English team leads the Miller's Collegiate Cup Region 1 standings with 201 points.
English Riders Feeley Morrison and Mathis Qualify for the IHSA Regionals
Senior Katie Feeley (Santa Barbara, Calif.) qualified in the Intermediate Equitation over Fences class and the Open Equitation on the Flat class. Sophomore Shannon Morrison (Fresno, Calif.) qualified in the Novice Equitation on the Flat and junior Michaela Mathis (Lemoore, Calif.) qualified for Intermediate Equitation on the Flat class.
Western Riders Webb and Reeves Qualify for IHSA Regionals
Sophomore Christy Webb (Lodi, Calif.) qualified in the Advanced Western Horsemanship II class to compete at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regionals. Fellow Bulldog senior Stephanie Reeves (Menlo Park, Calif.) qualified for the Intermediate Western Horsemanship II class.
Bulldogs Place Sixth at Univ. of Findley Show Jan. 26-27
Fresno State competed in a show at the Univ. of Findlay where they received a combined two-day score of sixth place. The Bulldogs had five riders place in the top 5 including third and fifth place finishes by sophomore Amy Reed.
Two English Riders Placed at Univ. of Findlay Show
Fresno State placed fourth against varsity English teams which are members of the NCAA. Two English riders placed high at the show. Sophomores Amy Reed (Grand Rapids, Mich.) placed fifth in the Walk-Trot-Canter class and sophomore Dawn McIntosh (Los Gatos, Calif.) placed fifth in Intermediate Fences.
Three Western Riders Placed at Univ. of Findlay Show
Fresno State placed third against varsity Western teams also members of the NCAA. The team placed fourth overall. Three sophomore riders placed in the Western classes. Amy Reed (Grand Rapids, Mich.) placed third in Intermediate Stock Seat. Jennifer Campbell (Clovis, Calif.) placed fourth in Beginning Stock Seat. Jessica Frazier (Lovelock, Nev.) placed fifth in Open Stock Seat.
