Narrow Defeat for No. 9 Women's Tennis

FRESNO, Calif. - In the third day of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Fresno State fell to No. 17 Northwestern with a 4-3 finish. Though the Bulldogs won all three of their doubles matches and took the doubles point, they were unable to clinch the win in singles. Kim Niggemeyer and Simone Jardim defeated Lia Jackson and Simona Petrutiu 8-3. Chloe Carlotti and Courtney Jantz took down Marine Piriou and Jessica Rush at the end with a tie-breaker 7-6 (6) and the duo of Kelly Ramirez and Chantel Wiggins cruised past Ruth Barnes and Kokx 8-2.
In singles, Carlotti and Lucia Tallo were the only Bulldogs to win their matches. Carlotti defeated Lia Jackson in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Tallo, after a tough first set, took the win against Andrea Yung 7-6 (10), 6-2. Niggemeyer fell to Piriou in three sets 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (5) and Jardim lost to Rush 6-1, 0-6, 6-4.
