No. 12 Softball Makes Quick Work Against Louisiana Tech

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 12 Fresno State softball quickly went about its business when the Bulldogs tallied a 9-0, five-inning win over Louisiana Tech in one hour of play at Bulldog Diamond.
The Bulldogs punched out nine runs on 12 hits, with seven of those runs coming in the first inning.
Junior right-hander Leslie Poole posted her 10th victory and second shutout as she limited the Lady Techsters to three hits, walked none and struck out two.
Senior left fielder Lashme Gomez knocked in three runs after going 1-3 with a double and sacrifice fly. Sophomore second baseman Pam Perez hit two in and went 2-3 with a run while stealing her third base.
Senior center fielder Tiffany Whipple (2-3, run), senior third baseman Lindsay Fossatti (1-2, run), freshman first baseman Jamie Southern (3-3, two runs) and junior catcher Pam West (2-3, run) each had a RBI.
In the first, Fresno State scored seven runs on seven hits while the Lady Techsters committed an error. The Bulldogs notched their second mercy run-rule victory after tacking on two runs in the fourth on a Gomez double down the left field line.
Fresno State (32-13, 7-1 WAC) will host Cal Poly on Wednesday, April 10, 6:00 p.m. before resuming Western Athletic Conference play at home against San Jose State on Saturday, April 13, 1:00 p.m.
