Stanford Head Coach John Rittman
"I thought we did a good job of being patient with (Pacific senior pitcher) Cindy Ball. The bottom part of our lineup really gave us a spark and got some clutch hits.
"It felt really good to get an early lead. Pacific is a quality opponent. We're very well prepared both mentally and physically. We understand this is one game out of a long regional.
"We have to do a better job of fielding tomorrow."
Junior pitcher Tori Nyberg
"I thought we played with a great deal of intensity today and it was a good way to start the tournament. In the first inning I think I had a little bit of the postseason jitters but I settled down after that. It is nice to pitch in warm weather."
Pacific Head Coach Brian Kolze
"We played a great team today. I knew we had a tough draw and I think we were a little too tight to start the game. I think as a whole, we were trying to do too much so we didn't have to play a second game today.
"Tori (Nyberg) did a good job of hitting her spots today. I thought Cyndi (Ball) did a good job as well but Stanford is a very disciplined team. Stanford has seen a lot of Ball and they know her tendencies. They hit the ball in the right spots.
On playing after falling behind 5-0
"I just wanted our team to win the second half of the game and find a way to finish the game on the plus side and I think we did that."
