Stanford Rolls Past Pacific 7-0

FRESNO, Calif. - After three big innings and riding on the bat of second baseman Kira Ching, Stanford advances with a score of 7-0 over Pacific. Ching opened up the scoring with a two-run triple in the bottom of the third inning. Then two batters later, Ching scored on a single from catcher Jessica Allister. The next inning the Cardinal scored two more after two singles moved the lineup around the bases. After four innings, Pacific changed pitchers and inserted Jennifer Dacre to finish the game. Stanford sealed its victory in the sixth inning as Ching hit a home run over the left field fence to score two runs. Pacific had its best chance to score as the bases were loaded in the seventh, but did not score any runs.
The winning pitcher was Tori Nyberg (26-9). She finished allowing no runs on three hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
The loss went to Cindy Ball (27-10). She pitched four innings, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts. Jennifer Dacre relieved Ball and went two innings, giving up three hits, two runs and two walks.
Stanford advances to play in Game 6, Friday at 5 p.m. versus the winner of Game 3 (No. 3 California and No. 4 Fresno State).
Pacific will play Evansville tonight in Game 4 at 7:30 p.m. or 35 minutes following the conclusion of Game 3.
