California Rides Forest Into NCAA Regional Championship Game

FRESNO, Calif. - California pitcher Jocelyn Forest was dominating, striking out 12 Cal State Fullerton players in helping the third-seeded Golden Bears to a 4-2 victory over the No. 1-seeded Titans at Bulldog Diamond.
It marked the third impressive performance in as many games for Forest, who improved to 3-0 in the tournament and 24-12 on the season. She struck out 13 and allowed just three hits in a complete game effort.
Cal struck first when left fielder, Kristin Morley worked her way around the bases after being hit by a pitch. Courtney Scott knocked in the run with a fielders choice.
Cal State Fullerton evened the score in the second inning when the short stop, Amanda Hockett, reached after being hit by a pitch and came around to score on a triple by Shawna Robinson, making it 1-1.
The big play of the game came in the fourth inning, when Chelsea Spencer doubled to center to get on and the designated player and Merced, Calif., native Mikella Pedretti sent one passed CS Fullerton's left fielder for an inside the park home run, making the score 4-1, Bears.
The Titans would score one more on a solo home run by their center fielder, Yasmin Mossadeghi in the fourth inning.
Jodie Cox (18-5) of Cal State Fullerton took the loss after pitching four innings. She finished allowing four runs on four hits, three strikeouts and two walks. It was her first loss in the last 14 decisions. Christy Robitaille pitched the final three innings and ended allowing no runs on two hits, one strikeout and one walk.
