California Head Coach Diane Ninemire
"I thought this tournament was the toughest of all the regionals in the country. We knew that whoever came out of this bracket would be well-prepared for the College World Series.
"We were led by (senior pitcher) Jocelyn Forrest who worked well with (junior catcher) Courtney Scott and some timely hitting as well.
"I was surprised that one run was enough because Fullerton is such a good hitting team. I can't tell you how proud I am of these players for their performance at this tournament. This was the first Cal team to go 4-0 in a regional."
Freshman center fielder Kaleo Eldredge
On catch of Jodie Cox's fly ball
"I went back on the ball and I thought to myself that I needed to track it down and catch it."
Senior pitcher Jocelyn Forest
"Eldredge's catch was no doubt a game saving catch."
Junior catcher Courtney Scott
On Forest's performance
"The last three innings of the game were three of the best innings I have seen her pitch. She was unbelievable. Every time you would think that she would be tiring she reared back and got the job done."
Junior Veronica Nelson
On game winning hit
"Coming up with the bases loaded I was excited because I knew Oaks would have to pitch to me. I just had to remind myself to be patient and wait for a pitch to hit.
Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Michelle Gromacki
"I thought we were as good of a team as anybody in this tournament. I tip my cap to Cal because they are a heck of a team. Championship games always seem to come down to who gets the breaks and that was the case today.
Junior pitcher Gina Oaks
"Both teams knew that this was going to be a battle but unfortunately we just weren't able to push a run across today."
Junior Jodie Cox
"We had some great at-bats today. It is never fun coming out on the losing end but it wasn't because of a lack of effort. We gave 120%."
