Berrian, Burley Selected For East-West Shrine Game

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State wide receiver Bernard Berrian and defensive end Nick Burley are among the 32 early commitments to play in the 78th annual East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 11, 2003, at Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco.
Berrian and Burley, both seniors, enter the 2002 season as two of the nation's top players at their respective positions. Berrian has been listed as the fifth-best senior prospect by ESPN's NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper, Jr. The first-team All-WAC honoree led the nation and set a WAC record for all-purpose yardage last year with 2,776. He also racked up 1,364 receiving yards and is a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top wide receiver.
Burley was a first-team all-conference selection last year and is a leading candidate for WAC Defensive Player of the Year. He had 13 tackles for loss in 2001 and eight sacks while playing and starting in all 14 games. He should also be in the running for the Lombardi Award.
The East-West Shrine Game is one of the premier All-Star showcases for senior talent in the nation. This year's West team head coach is Mike Price of Washington State. Tyrone Willingham, head coach at Notre Dame, will serve as the East team's coach.
