- Kendall Edwards suffered a left knee injury during the third quarter. Early indications lead the training staff to believe there is significant ligament damage. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
- Tonight's attendance was 39,111, the first time Fresno State has not had a sell out since the Bulldogs took on SMU in the 2000 home finale. It was also the first sub-40,000 crowd since Nov. 20, 1999, when 38,732 watched Fresno State beat San Jose State 63-12.
- Redshirt freshman Paul Pinegar started at quarterback for Fresno State, making him the first Bulldog freshman to start at QB since Trent Dilfer did it in 1992.
- The victory snaps the Bulldogs' four-game losing streak to San Diego State and is the first time a Pat Hill-led Fresno State team beat the Aztecs. SDSU still leads the all-time series 26-20-4.
- Fresno State held the Aztecs scoreless in the first half, the first time the Bulldogs posted a shutout in the opening 40 minutes since Nov. 18, 2000, against SMU.
- The Bulldogs' first touchdown drive lasted 14 plays, the team's longest of the season.
- After posting two first downs on their opening drive, the Aztecs did not have a first down the remainder of the first half.
- The Bulldogs are now 8-4 on ESPN or ESPN2 since 1992.
- Fresno State is now 5-1 in home openers under Pat Hill and is 3-2 all-time vs. the Mountain West Conference.
- The Bulldogs had 262 total yards, the first time they have been held under 300 yards of offense since last year's season opener against Colorado.
- The 16 points scored was the fewest Fresno State has scored in a win since Nov. 18, 2000, a 14-7 victory over SMU.
- Tonight's Fresno State starting lineup consisted of four seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and three freshman, including quarterback Paul Pinegar.
- The Bulldogs had four sacks on the night, bringing their total up to 10 for the year. Since 2000, Fresno State has totaled 105 sacks, the most in the nation during that time span.
- Cameron Worrell's interception was the first by a Bulldog this year. It brings the team total to 54 since the start of the 1999 season, the fourth-most in the nation during that time span.
