Carlotti Reaches Semifinals of Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Second-seeded Chloe Carlotti won both of her singles matches and advanced to the semifinals of the eighth annual Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic, being played at Fresno State. She is the only Bulldog remaining in the main singles draw.
The Paris, France, native opened the day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over teammate Courtney Jantz to reach the quarterfinals. She then had to grind out a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-1 win over Sacramento State's fifth-seeded Margarita Karnaukhova to reach the semifinals, where she will take on third-seeded Catherine Lynch of California on Sunday at 8 a.m.
The other singles semifinal pits Raquel Kops-Jones of Cal, the tournament's No. 1 seed, against Loyola Marymount's fourth-seeded Edit Pakay, who dispatched Fresno State's Lucia Tallo, the sixth seed, by scores of 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Katherin Winterhalter, the other Bulldog who began today still alive in the singles draw, fell in the round of 16 to Lynch 6-2, 6-2.
Carlotti also has reached the semifinals in the doubles bracket. She teamed with Tallo to knock off fifth-seeded Georgina Dinham and Pakay 8-6 to advance to the semifinals. The No. 2-seeds will play the winner of a match to be completed tomorrow between Carla Arguelles/Nicole Havlicek of California and Courtney Jantz/Katherin Winterhalter of Fresno State.
