Nov. 15, 2003
- Fresno State's win gives it a 33-32-3 lead in the all-time series with San Jose State. It marks the first time since 1947 that the Bulldogs have led the Spartans in the rivalry.
- The Bulldogs have now won the last 10 games against San Jose State, their second-longest active winning streak against any team currently playing Division I-A football (New Mexico State, 11). Fresno State hasn't lost at home to the Spartans since 1987.
- The win was the Bulldogs' 14th in a row in regular season games in November and December. Since 1999, Fresno State is 17-2 in regular season games after Oct. 31. The November/December winning streak is currently the longest in the nation. The Bulldogs haven't lost in November since 2000 at TCU.
- Fresno State blocked two kicks tonight, bringing its season total of blocks up to nine. Since 1997, when Pat Hill took over, the season-high for blocked kicks is 10, set in 1999.
- Fresno State's 311 rushing yards was the first time the Bulldogs' eclipsed 300 yards since Nov. 20, 1999, when they accomplished that feat against San Jose State.
- Paul Williams had two receptions in the game, his first two of the year.
- Brett Visintainer made both of his field goal attempts and has now made six in a row and nine of his last 10.
- James Sanders had a big night, registering 12 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and two sacks. His two sacks were his first of the year.
- The Bulldogs' 508 yards of total offense was a season high.
- Fresno State's scored 24 points in the first half, also a season high.
- Dwayne Wright 106 yards marked the third time this year he has eclipsed the century mark. Under Pat Hill, the Bulldogs are 21-7 when a running back rushes for at 100-149 yards.
- The Fresno State defense has allowed a combined total of 28 points in the last three games, an average of 9.3 per contest.
- Rodney Davis' 2-yard run for a touchdown was his first TD of the year.
- Today's game marks just the second time since 1971 that the Bulldogs have held San Jose State to just one touchdown during a game. The other occasion came in 2000, when Fresno State topped the Spartans 37-6.
- Fresno State is now 7-4 (5-1 WAC) on the year, making it bowl eligible for the fifth year in a row. It is also the fifth consecutive year of at least seven wins, the longest streak since 1989-93.
- The 28 points allowed over the last three contests are the fewest in a three-game stretch under Pat Hill, who took over in 1997. It is also the fewest allowed under any coach since 1990, when the Bulldogs allowed just 13 combined points in victories over Utah (31-7), New Mexico State (42-3) and Cal State Fullerton (38-3).
- The four-game winning streak matches last year's string of four in a row with which the Bulldogs ended the regular season. It marks the third consecutive season Fresno State has had at least a four-game winning streak.
