English/Western Riders Prepare For Cal Poly
The 'Dogs are preparing to travel to Cal Poly this week for an English/Western show Sat.-Sun., Feb 22-23. This should have been the second time the team has traveled to compete at Cal Poly, but due to rainy weather, the show in December was cancelled.
Western Riders Capture High Point Championship Title The Western riders took control by finishing with a High Point Championship title with a total score of 41 pointstwo weeks ago. Bakersfield College finished second with a score of 38 points. "If we keep riding the way we do, we will be unbeatable," head coach Megan McGee said. The top riders were sophomore Taylor Mason and junior Shauna Erickson. Mason captured the leading High point individual championship title, which pushed her to become the leading western rider in the region with 46 points. Erickson started in Intermediate Stock Seat Section A and advanced to Section B, finishing first in both sections.
English/Western Take Championship in IHSA Show
The equestrian team hosted their third show of the season and came out with a Reserve Championship title when it hosted an English/Western IHSA show on Sun. Jan.19, and competed against schools such as CS Bakersfield, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Nevada, Santa Cruz, and Stanford. The equestrian team captured the High Point Championship title in the Western competition with 27 points and captured the championship title in the English competition as well with 42 points, the highest ever in total points in the English competition in Bulldog history.
California Classic Results
The Bulldog's hosted the NCAA California Classic and competed against five different schools. In the overall competition, Auburn grabbed the championship title with 62 points. Oklahoma the reserve champions totaled 58 points, South Carolina was third with 51 points, Georgia was fourth with 49 points, Fresno State placed fifth with 46 points, and Texas A&M finished sixth, with 43 points.
