FRESNO, Calif. - Chloe Carlotti jumped to No. 8 in the latest Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Carlotti, a sophomore from Paris, France, has posted an impressive 18-6 (9-1 dual) record this year. She is the Bulldogs' first top 10 ranked player since Dora Djilianova finished the 1998-99 season ranked fifth. Most recently, Carlotti helped lead Fresno State to a 4-3 victory over then-No. 38 Pennsylvania by defeating 17th-ranked Alice Pirsu in three sets.
Carlotti's solid work has not just been confined to singles. Along with partner Lucia Tallo, Carlotti is tied for 23rd in the doubles rankings.
The women's team (6-4) remained at No. 16 in the team rankings. The Bulldogs have been the 16th-ranked team in the nation since the Feb. 26 poll.
On the men's side, Fresno State (7-5) moved up to No. 56 in the nation. Rice (34th) and SMU (42nd) are the only other WAC teams ranked higher than the Bulldogs.
