Baseball Outlasts Hawai'i, 5-4

FRESNO, Calif. - Junior infielder Casey McGehee hit a game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning as the Bulldogs came from behind to beat Hawai'i 5-4 Sunday at Beiden Field.
The Bulldogs improve to 6-12 overall and 2-1 in the WAC while the Rainbows fall to 12-5 and 1-2 in conference play.
McGehee's game winner plated junior infielder Ryan Haag who tied the game earlier in the inning on a two-out RBI single that marked hit No. 100 for his career.
Junior catcher Brandon Marcelli led of the frame with a single off Rainbows right-hander Clary Carlsen (0-1). Senior outfielder Joey Myers pinch ran for Marcelli and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by junior catcher Ryan Rothford. After a ground out by senior outfielder Scott Beshears, Haag knotted the game at 4-4. Junior infielder Chris Patrick followed with a single and advanced tp second when junior outfielder Tory Davis reached on an error to load the bases and set the stage for McGehee.
Haag (2-for-5), Patrick (2-for-4), McGehee (2-for-5), Marcelli (2-for-4), and Beshears (2-for-4) paced the Bulldogs with multi-hit efforts.
Fresno State junior righty Bryan Wolfenbarger (1-2) tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn his first victory of the year.
Catcher Brian Bock went 2-for-3 including his fourth home run of the season to lead Hawai'i.
The Bulldogs open the 25th annual Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic Monday against Pennsylvania at 7 p.m.
