FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State head coach Stacy Johnson-Klein has announced the signing of freshman guard Jasmine Plummer (Sacramento, Calif.) to compete for the Bulldogs in 2003.
The addition of Plummer brings Fresno State's roster total to 13 players. Plummer joins 5-9 freshman guard Paige Diggs (Amarillo, Texas), 6-2 freshman forward Brittani Green (Dallas, Texas) and 6-3 sophomore forward Nikki Wilson (Chicago, Ill.) as the first fall recruiting class during Johnson-Klein's tenure.
"We're excited to add the kind of player of Jasmine's caliber to our program," said Johnson-Klein, who enters her second season at the helm. "She's a tremendous athlete who should add great balance to our guard play. We expect the entire class of newcomers to contribute immediately and help us build on our success of last season."
Plummer, a 6-0 guard, was a three-time All-Conference selection at Natomas High School in Sacramento, Calif. An All-City honoree during her senior year, Plummer was also named Sierra Foothill League MVP and led the league in steals and assists.
The Bulldogs kick-off the 2003-04 season on Wednesday, Nov. 5 with a "Bulldog Basketball Extravaganza." The event will include scrimmages by the men's and women's teams, games, a three-point shootout, dunk contests, prizes for students and fans, an autograph session and alumni recognition.
Fresno State's first regular season contest takes place on Friday, Nov. 21, when the 'Dogs square off against Washington State in Pullman, Wash.
