Women's Soccer Falls At Boise State, 3-0

BOISE, Idaho - Molly McDonald scored twice and added an assist in Boise State's 3-0 shutout victory over Fresno State on Friday afternoon at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho.
With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 3-6-3 overall and 0-1-2 in the WAC. Boise State improves to 8-4-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference action.
The shot count was relatively even, with Boise State holding a 9-8 edge. The opportunistic Broncos also owned an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks, with two of their goals the result of previous set pieces.
Junior Kortney Lewis (Visalia, Calif.) led Fresno State with three shots, while sophomore Cortney Sobrero (Las Vegas, Nev.) added two. The 'Dogs held a 7-3 edge in shot attempts through the first half, but were outshot 6-1 in the second period.
Boise State took a 1-0 lead into halftime after McDonald scored the first of her two goals in the 38th minute, collecting a rebound off a loose ball in the box.
The Broncos would go on to score twice in a five-minute span early in the second period to go up 3-0. McDonald lobbed a long shot past Bulldog keeper Jeannette Paine (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada) for the second score, and Lisa Balsama scored her fifth goal of the year four minutes later off a header.
Freshman netminder Debra Marie Lambert (Modesto, Calif.) played the final 31:24 in goal, recording Fresno State's two saves on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound against Nevada on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
